Nature on the estate

Room for wildlife

Wildflower meadows, mature hedgerows and native trees run through the estate, and every season we add more.

Our meadows are cut once a year, late in the summer, so buttercup, ox-eye daisy, knapweed and poppy can set seed. Insects, birds and small mammals follow.

Hedgerows and trees

We are planting new native hedges of hawthorn, hazel, blackthorn and field maple, along with oak, alder and other native trees for shelter and shade.

Water

A new wildlife pond and improved field drainage will hold water on the land through the year, with rainwater harvested for the garden and animals.
